Joy: The Man in the Mask and Other Art

I know this short, little piece may seem like skimping, but I truly cannot do any better than directing you to the video below.

In fall of 1992, I was visiting my hometown and took a couple of hours to go to the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington. In the gift shop was a small statue of a couple dancing naked. The dancers were middle-aged and did not have dancers’ bodies, far from it. Somehow, in the curves of marble, the sculptor had captured their joy and exuberance and passed those feelings along to the viewer.
